The Language of Numbers

In the 1611 King James Version of the Holy Bible, the Name “Yehovah” (יהוה) is clearly seen written in Hebrew at the top center portion of at least two of its pages. . . including the iota subscripts. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Hebrew language, the iota subscripts are the vowel sounds which determine the exact pronunciation of any given word or phrase.

As such, many of the Hebrew names found in the Bible are made up of a number of smaller words that, when put together, form a short sentence.  For instance, the name “Yehoshua” (the “formal” Hebrew name of Jesus) is a conjunction of the Hebrew name for God “Yehovah” and the word “Yoshia”, which means “salvation”. Thus, “Yehoshua” forms the short sentence “God is Our Salvation”, or rather simply, “God Saves”. The shortened version of Yehoshua is Yeshua; that is Jeshua, or Joshua. . .Greek: Iesous, and Latin: Jesus.

Now, because there are no numerals in the Hebrew & Greek languages, each letter is assigned a numeric value. The sum of the values for any given word or phrase is called “Gematria” [ɡəˈmātrēə].
